Reception News – 26.6.26

What a glorious and hot week we have had! Summer has defintely arrived!

Phonics

This week our new digraphs are:

au (or) as in Launch, August, applaud

ey (ee) as in donkey, key, trolley

We also have learnt 2 split digraphs – a-e (ai/ay) as in pale, skate, lake and e-e (ee/ea) as in compete, Pete, athlete

Our new hard to read and spell words are: would, could, asked. Can you put one or more into a sentence? Can you write a sentence with one of the words in?

Maths

This week the children have used counters and die frames to develop their understanding of number facts. We have revisited 5 little speckled frogs to help us automatically recall number bonds to 5. The children have also drawn their own part whole models and number sentences to match.

Understanding the world – Maps

We have looked at creating a different map this week – a story map. We all read ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and then drew a map to show what happens in the story. The sequencing of the pictures helped us to retell the story. We saw some fantastic maps.

RKT Stockeld Park

We had a hot but fantastic day at Stockeld Park. Thank you to our parent volunteers. We couldn’t do trips like this without you!

Science Superstars

We saw some fantastic science experiments demonstrated this week…..

Everything else…

Have a lovely weekend.
