This week we have learnt the phonemes i, n, m and d. Our hard to read and spell words are ‘I’ and ‘the.’ We modelled using them in sentences. The children are doing so well practising forming the new letters and spelling our new hard to read and spell words.

Busy Bee Writing books

Maths
This week we have been doing lots of subitising. When subitising, children can say how many there are in a small group of objects by ‘just seeing’ and knowing straight away without needing to count. They have had fun doing lots of practical maths activities.

Understanding the World – RE
In our Understanding the World lesson we talked about our families this week. We read the book A Family is a Family is a Family and the children talked about who was in their family. We were really impressed with how confidently everybody spoke in front of the whole class.
PE
In PE our focus this week was jumping. We practised jumping with two feet at the same time and bending our knees and using our arms to help us. The children did a brilliant job jumping onto different floor markers.

Reading, Phonics and Maths in Reception
On Wednesday 7th October we are inviting parents and carers to come and find out more about how we teach reading, phonics and maths in Reception. You can either come into school 2.30-3.10pm or you can join us online 6-6.40pm. A letter should have made it home this week. We would like to see as many parents/carers attend as possible as it is a really useful meeting. A link for the online meeting will be sent nearer the time.
