Phonics

This week we have focused on reading words that contain consonant clusters like st in the word steep and mp in jump.

Our tricky word this week is there. Can your child read all of the tricky words learnt so far?

Maths

A new focus this week was subitising beads on a rekenrek. This key piece of equipment will allow the children to continue to develop their subitising skills as they explore the structure of small numbers, while building a foundation for further work in Year 1.

We have also been learning about length. The children have been using the language ‘longer’ and ‘shorter’.

Understanding the World

The children are really enjoying our map work. This week we looked at ‘The World’ and the continents. We discussed what places we have been to and where they are on the map. We enjoyed listening to this continent’s song:

Everything Else…

Farsley Festival

The children have had fun creating sea creatures to display at Farsley Festival this Saturday. This is a great afternoon out at Hainsworth Park.

Trip Reminder

We are looking forward to our visits to Harlow Carr next week. RGK are going on Tuesday and RP on Thursday. The children need to wear their school uniform. Please ensure your child wears appropriate footwear and a raincoat or sun hat depending on the weather forecast! We will be outside most of the day. The children need a rucksack or bag to carry their own lunch and drink. Please don’t pack any nuts in their lunch.

Have a lovely weekend.
