Reception News – 12.12.25

Phonics

In phonics we have been revising the phase 2 and 3 phonemes. Our new hard to read and spell words are my and you. We are also assessing the children and we are so pleased with the progress they are making.

Maths

This week we have been busy writing digits to 5, ordering them, and doing lots of counting. We are also updating our end-of-term maths assessments.

Christmas Nativity

We hope that you all enjoyed our nativity. We are very proud of all the children. They were amazing!

Getting changed into their Nativity costumes proved challenging for some children. Over the holidays, can you get your child to practice getting dressed and undressed independently.

RKT Abbey House

We had a super time at visiting Santa at Abbey House. the children had such fantastic manners and even manage to sing to Santa! Thank you to those parents who could help us it was much appreciated.

Understanding of the World – Celebrations

As part of our Understanding of the World learning, we talked about celebrations this week. We were impressed with how many celebration the children knew about and that they were able to mention celebrations they don’t celebrate themselves. We talked about that a special meal is often part of a celebration as well as getting presents. The children talked in front of the whole class about their own celebration pictures and then made a celebration poster.

Party day!

The children are looking forward to their party next Wednesday. Please see letter below for more details.

Everything Else

Have a lovely weekend,

The Reception Team
