Preparing for residential
Good evening,
This week, both classes have been busy brushing up on their cycling skills. Initially, the children went out on the playground and surrounding playing fields to gain some confidence. Then today, 5B have been to Otley Chevin and have riden through the woods. This is more challenging as the ground is more uneven and there are plenty of hilly routes to tackle. All the riders showed a massive amount of resilience and determination to complete the session, even the small number who had a minor spill from the bike. It was universally agreed that the morning/afternoon was a brilliant experience. Maude even claimed it was the best trip out ever! The residential promises to be even better.
Geography
In order for the children to have a good understanding of their surroundings and the features that they will see while on residential, we have been cramming as much Geography in as possible. At the start of the week we looked at the course of a river, from source to mouth and inbetween. We also conducted an experiment to demonstrate the water cycle, by using a sandwich bag containing a small amount of colpoured water. These were then attached to the classroom windows to do their thing in this week’s glorious sun.
We held the residential meetings for parents (and children in class) this week where any questions could be answered but if you still have anything you need to ask, please email your child’s class teacher.
