Phonics

This week, we focused on rhyme and the sound patterns that repeat. We used flashcards to emphasise the final sounds and identify the patterns. The children also engaged in body percussion to reinforce the words.

Word Aware

This week we have looked at ‘front’ and ‘full’.

Maths

This week, our maths focus has been on the concept of ‘same’. We have examined different items to determine if they are the same or different.

Sticks

Following up on last week’s house-building activity, the children used sticks to try to construct a house for a pig. While the sticks were an improvement over straw, they still weren’t a suitable building material, as the sides kept collapsing!

Everything else

The children have been very busy this week. We made slime, which turned out to be quite messy! The children used pastels to create some amazing artwork. We learned how to draw a cat, a rabbit, and a minion! We also made coloured spy glasses to change the colours of everything around us. We even had time to dance, sing, and complete a yoga session.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
