Phonics

Phonics this week has focused on ‘Body Percussion’. The children listened and repeated taps, claps, and stomps. We even listened to “We Will Rock You” and managed to stomp and clap along with the music.

Maths

This week, we explored the concepts of ‘curved’ and ‘flat.’ We modelled simple building arrangements and discussed why we selected particular bricks. The children had fun trying to balance two curved bricks on top of each other.

Words Aware

We have begun exploring various concept words to enhance the children’s vocabulary. Each week, we will focus on two new words. The children will review these words regularly, and the concept words along with their corresponding symbols will be displayed in the classroom. This week, we have examined the words “above” and “after.”

Everything else

This week, the very generous people at Smyths Toys donated some new toys that the children absolutely loved. They had a great time opening the packages and playing with the toys. Additionally, we revamped the water area, which has encouraged more children to engage with the new resources. The syringes and tubes have been particularly popular, resulting in not only the children getting wet, but also the adults! As always, the children enjoyed spending time outside and using the equipment. We also created leaf characters and even explored volcanoes, whales, and snails!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
