Jewson

A big thank you to Jewson for their generous donation of soil and gravel this week! The children thoroughly enjoyed seeing the truck and watching as the bags were lifted over the hedge. We now have many more months of play ahead!

Little Feet

We had a visit from Little Feet, who talked to the children about the importance of walking to school whenever possible. We learnt about Strider and a journey he needs our help with. As a class, we are encouraged to walk or wheel to school to collect stickers, which will be added to Strider’s adventure map. This map features five minibeast friends that we need to visit before completing the journey. To get started, we decided to go on a minibeast hunt to see if we could find some of the minibeasts featured on Strider’s adventure map.

Phonics

This week, the children were introduced to the grapheme and phoneme for ‘i’. We learnt about the new letter character, ‘Isabelle the Incredible Inventor’. We practised blending words that begin with ‘i’.

Word Aware

The children have been looking at ‘night’ and ‘next to’.

Maths

During our math sessions, the children have been on a mission to find Bear. They followed simple instructions to locate him using positional language such as ‘under,’ ‘through,’ and ‘over.’

Everything else

It was a slightly shorter week, but we still managed to accomplish a lot. The children loved playing with the coloured rice that we prepared. We also visited the goats and chickens, used peg boards to create simple AB repeating patterns, played in the new mud and gravel, learned more about worms, and enjoyed using the slide and being on the hill!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
