Nursery Blog – 07.11.25

This half-term, we will be focusing on ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We have already read it a couple of times, and the children are starting to learn the words and actions.

Phonics

During our phonics sessions, we have been looking at ‘alliteration’. We thought about adjectives to pair with each child’s name. We also selected some pictures from a bowl and thought about words to pair with them.

Word Aware

This week, we are looking at ‘a bit’ and ‘both’.

Maths

Maths this week has focused on ‘order’. We have practised counting forward and backward while looking at the numerals to see the correct order.

Bonfire night

The children have watched a few videos to help them understand the meaning behind Bonfire Night. We also discussed fire safety and how to stay safe around fireworks. After viewing some fireworks on screen, the children created some amazing pictures inspired by what they saw.

Everything else

This week, the children explored different emotions and used puppets and mirrors to express and match those emotions. We discovered some snails and observed them as they moved, leaving trails behind. The children were also curious about the creatures that inhabit the ocean. We spent some time in the conservation area, where some children made “dancing sticks.” To keep our outdoor area tidy, we have been sweeping up a lot of leaves, although more continue to fall…

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
