Phonics

This week, we focused on exploring sound. The children had the opportunity to play with a variety of musical instruments. We examined how each instrument works and listened to the different sounds they produce. We demonstrated how to use each instrument and then passed them around in a circle, allowing the children to try to replicate the same sounds. It has certainly been a noisy week!

Word Aware

This week, we have explored the words “back” and “backwards.”

Maths

In our maths sessions, we focused on the concepts of big, biggest, small, and smallest. We read the book “Big and Small” and used bricks from the construction area to compare and discuss these different sizes. Then, the children explored the classroom to find objects they could compare on their own.

Everything else

This week has been quite artistic! The children have been busy creating autumn-themed pictures. We also revisited history and discussed the changes that have occurred over time. The children enjoyed sharing their baby photos and reflecting on how they have changed. We spent some time in the hall and a lot of time outside.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
