Maths

This week we have continued to look at the number 1. We re-read ‘Puppy Number 1’ before collecting 1 item each.

Phonics

We started our focused phonics sessions this week. We went for some lovely walks around the grounds, listening to different sounds and identifying them.

Building houses or making a mess!

We read different versions of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ this week. We then had a go at building our own houses using straw. It got a little messy! It is safe to say that straw is not a good material for building houses.

Painting with ice

With all the ice last week and part of this week, we decided to involve it in our learning. The children froze some paints with lolly sticks and experimented painting with them. We even mixed some of the colours to see what happened.

Everything else

The weather has changed quite a bit this week. We still had a lot of ice on Monday and Tuesday but almost nothing by Wednesday. No ice later in the week meant we were able to get outside! We also spent some time in the hall completing yoga sessions and using the equipment (all exercise is good exercise.) The children have completed this term’s pictures/painting for their lockers, made scented playdough, got messy with jelly, had a go at some traditional Bhangra dancing, and practised our ‘Little Pig’ song.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
