Minibeast poetry and Art in Year 2

English

This week we have been reading and writing poems about minibeasts. We collected lots of words to describe different minibeasts. We then created diamante poems using these words. A diamante poem has 7 lines and follows this structure:

Maths

In maths this week we have continued our work on position and direction. This week we have focussed on turns. Children have learned full turn, half turn, quarter and three quarter turns. They have also thought about the direction of the turn using left, right, clockwise and anti-clockwise.

Geography

This week in geography, we looked at ordnance survey maps. Children matched symbols to pictures of each features.

Art

In art this week, we have created some observational drawings of butterflies.
