Legendary Learning!

English

In our English lessons this week, we have been hard at work planning and creating our extended writes based on the legends that we have been exploring for the last few weeks. The children were able to draw on a lot of the research that they had done, as well as some of the more descriptive work that we had done to create their final pieces. We had some very creative ideas flowing, many of which were made even better during the editing process. Well done to all of our Year 4 children on creating such lovely legends!

Maths

In Maths, we have been wrapping up our work on individual times tables by covering the 7s, 11s and 12s. From this point on, we will still be looking at multiplication and division as a whole, but will no longer have specific times table lessons. Hopefully the children have now developed a better understanding of different strategies that they can use to solve these problems and also an idea of which tables they will need to keep working on between now and the end of the year. Remember – the better your times table knowledge is, the easier a lot of the work we will go on to do in Year 4 (and beyond) will become!

French

The children have been continuing to practise everything that they have learnt about how to present themselves in French. This week, we challenged the children to roleplay as a French child and hold a conversation with a peer entirely in French. The children had to greet each other, ask how they both were, introduce “themselves” and share their ages all before bidding each other farewell. It was quite tricky to remember so much but we think they did a great job!

General News

This week the children have had some spelling and maths homework sent out in their books. The maths sheet may require a little bit of support initially as the children need to use their times table knowledge in order to crack the codes that they have been given.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
