Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher’s Blog 17th June 2022

It has been a glorious week at Farfield and the school has been looking beautiful in the sunshine. The children have also looked smart this week with class photos on Wednesday and Thursday.

This week Year 4 have sat their new statutory Times Tables Check. This is delivered online and the children have 6 seconds each time to answer a range of questions up to 12 x 12. There won’t be a pass mark and most children’s knowledge and speed of recall is strong. We will get a benchmark to compare our children’s performance with other schools and we will need to support those that don’t have a strong grasp to acquire it in Y5 and 6.  Could you get 25/25?

On Wednesday evening, we had the full School Governing Body. For the first time in over two years, this was almost entirely face to face and it was great to see everyone. At this meeting, Danusia Gardner gave notice that she will shortly be retiring from the governing body after over twenty years. We will be sad to see Danusia go, but she has certainly ‘done her time’  and she has particularly contributed to the success of the Children’s Centre since its inception over a decade ago.
