Headteacher blog June 21st 2019

This week at school we have had Y6 moderators coming to see our writing. Flicking through the books, it is clear that there is so much fantastic writing in this cohort. Well done to our teachers and children for their sustained focus on this important part of the curriculum. This Y6 external moderation completes a full set of statutory moderation visits: into Reception, Year 1, Year 2 as well as the end of KS2.  These have been successful, affirmative visits that gives everyone confidence that we are doing things properly.

It has been another busy week of physical activity and sports: half of Y2 have had a skipping competition and our four best tennis players from Year 5 took part in a practice event and then the full Leeds tennis finals.  They played well but weren’t the overall winners having been up against lots of club players. Congratulations also to Umayr in Y5 who has been selected in the Yorkshire Tykes U10 cricket team and to Alfie, also in Y5, who has got through two sets of trials for Leeds Boys football.

Have you noticed the new picnic tables dotted around the school grounds? Many thanks to the PTA for buying them and to the PTA volunteers that spent a couple of hours putting them together after school. The PTA’s next big event is their biggest: Camp-Over on 29th June. Tickets have sold very well and I am sure that it will be another fantastic day (and night).
