Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher blog 9th September 2022

It’s great to be back in school and we have had, overall, a very positive week.

We were very busy on Monday trying to put the infant building back together after very extensive (and messy) fire-stopping work over the summer. Many hands made light(er) work, but we were still cleaning on Tuesday morning and finished with minutes to spare!

Our new children in Early Years seem to have settled very quickly, and the classrooms are already happy, calm spaces with children engrossed in their learning through play inside and out. Across the school, things are purposeful and positive. The whole school was buoyed by the outstanding SATs results back in the summer and the overwhelmingly positive feedback in the parent survey: we are a very strong, successful school with plenty to look forward to. Indeed, the publication of our revised curriculum online provides families with an insight into what is being taught at any time.

The end of the week has been overshadowed by the news of the passing of HRH The Queen. Words will be said in assemblies this afternoon and there will be a moment of reflection. The length of her reign was astonishing and the Second Elizabethan age will be a fascinating period of history to study in schools for generations to come. The UK has changed markedly over those years, mostly for the better, and we can build on that progress in the future.
