Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher blog 9/7/21

What a week! We have welcomed back three classes after isolation but, sadly, sent five home. This is really such a difficult time.

Despite this, we continue to have exciting times in school. All the classes that are in school are practising for sports days next week. Poor Y2 will be back on the day of their sports day having not practised – should be fun, especially as they didn’t have one in Y1 either!  Expect rigid social distancing for spectators; perhaps, a less than ideal view as we are all so spread out and Y2s running in all sorts of directions!

Year 3 have been having their Roman Day today and the costumes are really impressive! Thank you for your effort with this.

Year 6 have spent the week up at How Stean Gorge on residential. They have been really challenged by the activities but they were both super groups! Many thanks to all the staff that supported this – especially Miss Jones and Mrs Hawkhead who stayed all week (in one case, unexpectedly)!

On Wednesday, a film about Farfield’s food curriculum (cooking and farming) opened a conference on School Food and Cooking attended by over 70 delegates from around the country. Afterwards, the Leeds Healthy Eating Advisor wrote to us and said: “Feel very proud to be able to have one of our schools in Leeds share such amazing good practice and share such passion.” High praise indeed and a highlight of a difficult week.

The consistency and care you are providing to the kids at this time is incredible. Thank you so much to you and all the team at school.
