In the summer term we have lots more school trips as the weather is supposed to improve. This week, we have had Reception to Tropical World and Y2 on the longer trip to the West Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Year 4 pupils attended a skipping festival (and won) and Y5 attended a cricket event (and won, even thought they bizarrely weren’t allowed to bowl overarm!). The Y6 football team had a long trip to East Garforth in the quarter final of the Falkingham Cup: playing probably the best U11 team I have seen in 30 years – let’s just say we didn’t win that one. Our Y6 librarians also had a quick lunchtime visit to Truman Books. Next week, we have Y5s doing mountain biking at Otley Chevin and Year 4 are spending the day in Leeds. Once again, having minibuses really helps us to deliver an exciting and engaging curriculum, whilst keeping costs down.

Sadly, we are in the middle of another couple of strike days. This is not something anyone wants to be involved with and, frankly, we are all sick of it – as I am sure families are too. I don’t recall striking ever before in my 31 years as a teacher and hopefully I won’t again. I think the mandate for further strikes may expire soon and it will be interesting to see how a future vote goes. If nothing changes, I suspect the strikes will continue.

Tonight the PTA have an Eid Fair. Our PTA do an incredible job and I hope that the weather is kind.
