Headteacher blog 27th May 2016

I have been away with Year 5 on residential in the Yorkshire Dales this week and it has been an absolute pleasure. We have been walking, paddling, cycling and mountain biking with support from Charlie Pyatt from the West Leeds Sports Partnership, Chris Young from British Cycling and Matt Asquith from East Bradford Cycle Club. Staff have worked really hard all week – it’s a good job they don’t charge overtime! It has been wonderful to spend time with the children and have a chance to talk at length with them about many random topics of conversation! The children have proved to be brave, determined and resilient. If they fell off their bikes, they got back on. If they were frightened of the cave, they almost always overcame this with support from staff and peers. This sort of outdoor and adventurous activity is an important part of our curriculum and contributes to education in its widest sense.
