It has been an exciting week at Farfield. Children from years 2, 4 and 6 have competed admirably at the John Charles Centre in the Pudsey Olympics and half of Y2 attended a skipping competition and came third overall. Class RP have had a wonderful visit to Stockeld Park – a great addition to our array of educational visits. Next week Year 6 are at the fabulous How Stean Gorge for their residential and Y2 have visits to Skelton Grange Environmental Centre.

I have had a busy week of teacher recruitment: appointing a newly qualified teacher for a full-time maternity cover role and two more experienced teachers into part-time roles from September. I was particularly delighted to appoint the newly qualified teacher: the first post soon after qualifying is vital and I am very confident that we can effectively support this new colleague through the crucial first stages of her career. I was also delighted with the quality of the more experienced appointments – their impressive array of skills and talents, and the close alignment of values with our school.
