Headteacher blog 24th April 2026
It has been a glorious week weather-wise to start the summer term. The tennis courts and cricket nets are busy, the chickens are out again at lunchtime, blossom is bursting and we have had a super week.
This week has seen the opening of our Orchard ‘enhanced mainstream provision’ to support some children with SEND in the infants. This is a long-term project with further developments to come, but it is already providing a more suitable, focused environment for 6-8 children. It has been a very positive start.
Year 6 are busy getting ready for their SATs early next month but we still have a rich and wide curriculum for them. I was delighted and impressed by their self-portraits recently that have now appeared near my office. There is a lot of artistic talent on display, but what really pleases me is the confidence of the children in their artistic choices and the way that their rich art education is refected in their stylistic choices.
Many thanks to our PTA for agreeing up to £2000 towards renovations for the school farm this week. Whilst greater funds are necessary for things like fencing and polytunnel repairs subject to a further lottery bid, this donation from the PTA is really, really helpful and will help us to repair and top up rotten beds and improve areas in the bottom polytunnel. Anyone fancy a Saturday morning labour gang?
