Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher blog 17th December 2021

This week started brilliantly and has been good all week.

On Monday morning, a very supportive parent brought in a superb donation of books for school: all new books on themes around diversity and social justice. These have been paid for by a range of local businesses I believe, including Grumpy’s restaurant in Farsley. We are so grateful for this important addition to our libraries and I have already used one of the picture books in an assembly.

The week continued in this positive vein: on Wednesday our junior solar panels were finally switched on and on a bright December day, well over 80% of the building’s electricity was being generated carbon-free. (It was windy too, so the turbine was also contributing a little.) In the summer months, we will often be 100% renewable.

The children also had a visit from Santa on Wednesday, providing the children with presents funded by our wonderful PTA, and Reception children have traveled to Abbey House Museum today to see him again! Although we couldn’t get together, we also shared some Christmas performances that have been very frequently viewed online: https://sites.google.com/farsleyfarfield.org.uk/farfield-christmas-2021/home

It has been a happy and successful term. Thank you to all the children and staff for their super work! We break up this afternoon and we hope that everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 4th January 2022 – but we are sending home a pack of work just in case we don’t.

Finally, we send our very best wishes to Miss Ellis as she gets married tomorrow. What will be her name next term…?

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
