Farsley Farfield Primary School

Headteacher blog 13/1/23

A wet and windy week hasn’t dampened our spirits too much and we have continued to enhance our curriculum with trips out into the locality. Today, all the Year 5 children are going down to St. John’s Church to work with Rev Howles on The Second Covenant and all of Year 3 are off to the pantomime in Bradford.

My week has included a Family of Schools Headteachers’ meeting and preparations to chair the Leeds Schools Forum next week – the city-wide body that advises on, and makes some decisions about, school funding across the city. Some good news is that additional money in the Autumn budget will result in about £58k more for Farfield next year, but we still face significant cuts as spending on pay increases, SEND provision and general inflation are not matched by increases in income. We have also been informed that our school will get £18k for energy efficiency measures. We had already invested £5k in insulation this year, but these funds will help us to improve lighting in some remaining areas and upgrade some heating in peripheral areas of the school.
