Head teacher’s blog 23rd June 2017
This week has been generally hot and sunny and Farfield often looks its best at this time of year. I have done two tours of the school for groups of new parents joining Reception for September and they appear to have been impressed and inspired as they have seen all that the school can offer. Both tours have coincided with some break time and it is lovely to see children right across the vast school site playing games, climbing, den-making, ‘chilling out’ and so much more. This weekend the old ‘trim trails’ will be removed: let’s think creatively about what might take their place…
Earlier this week, 30 children from across the school competed in the Pudsey Mini-Olympics at the John Charles Centre against lots of other schools in this area. The children competed well and came third overall. A special mention goes to Ty in Y6 who is officially the fastest primary school age sprinter in the area! We also had two very successful trips to Skelton Grange nature reserve by the Y2 classes. This is becoming one of our favourite visits of the year and again the staff and volunteers there excelled themselves and the children learnt and experienced so much.
This afternoon, five of us (plus a corporate friend and parent) are heading down to London to attend the Times Educational Supplement School Awards dinner and gala, hosted by Julian Clary at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane having been shortlisted for the National Healthy School of the Year Award. It all seems very grand! Wish us luck…
