Happy New Year!

We have a good first week back at school: despite the miserable weather, children and staff have quickly got back into the routines of school and I have been pleased with the progress of the children over the first term as we have been reviewing assessments and work in books. This second term is usually key in terms of progress as we have a dozen weeks of uninterrupted lesson time without the distractions of Christmas, productions or statutory testing.

Our training day on Tuesday was refresher first aid training. Thirty staff attended and it is important that we are able to react quickly and effectively should an emergency occur. A big change this year was that we had training in using defibrillators should a person’s heart stop: many, many thanks to the PTA for buying us two defibrillators last half term – the first aid trainer was very impressed that we have two! Our next training day on Monday March 5th will help us to further improve our teaching of maths.
