Farsley Farfield Primary School

Head teacher blog June 26th 2015

It really has been a fabulous week at Farfield. Last weekend we had a most spectacularly successful ‘PTA Camp-Over’ with 75 families camping and over 500 people on site during the day. The weather was glorious by the evening and children and adults appeared to have a great time – we have had some wonderful feedback. Many thanks and congratulations to Diane and her team. The event raised about £3500!

We have welcomed Reenu and Meenakshi from our partner school in India to England this week; they have spent time in classes and we have all learnt from each other. They have been lovely company and I think that it has all been mutually beneficial. We hope to keep in touch!

This week, children from Nursery to Year 1 have all been on some great school trips: Nursery to Hesketh Farm, Reception to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Year 1 to Blackhill Woods. On Thursday, a team of 30 athletes from Y1-6 took part in a mini-Olympics at the great John Charles Centre in Leeds and performed very well, coming second overall. Next week, all of Y5 are going to Malham to find the source of the river Aire, walk to Gordale Scar and then discover the limestone pavement at Malham Cove.

Today, children will find out whose class they are in next year and they will get the chance to meet their new teacher on Wednesday. Our new teachers – Miss Cuthbert and Miss Bradley – are coming in next week to meet the children and prepare for the new academic year.
