What a week it has been! It began with our triumph in London at the glitzy TES School Awards and continued in that positive and enjoyable vein.

We have confirmed some really strong Key Stage 1 assessment results with improvements in every measure at Year 2 and by far our best ever results in the Year 1 Phonics test.

On Thursday we welcomed our biggest ever turn-out for our new Nursery cohort Open Evening despite lots of them already having siblings in school. We had lots of new families too – a number of them said that the school had been recommended to them! Mrs Kumar and her fantastic team made everyone welcome and explained how things will work in nursery: they now ‘plan in the moment’ to capture children’s interests and develop their ideas with them. They never know where this will take them one day to the next…

On Friday we held our ‘S Factor’ finals in the main school hall. All the classes came together to show off their scientist ‘champions’.  Many thanks to Mrs Daniels and Mrs Galbraith for organising the competition, to the judges who gave their time and to our supporters that donated some great prizes.

Finally, the week will end with another spectacular Camp-Over Festival on the school grounds on Saturday. Despite the rain earlier in the week, the forecast for Saturday is good and I am looking forward to another great event. Only at Farfield…
