Fun in year 5.

Fun in year 5.

Good afternoon parents and carers,

Here are a few photos form last week, making and testing parachutes in 5K.

This week in science we investigated friction, dragging an item across different surfaces and measuring the force needed.

In maths we have been learning how to order fractions using equivalents. Most children can now do this although we have found it tricky. Therefore we have set homework on this.

In English, we have begun writing an explanation text about a Mars rover. The children are trying to include conjunctions and relative clauses as well as formal language.

Rehearsals for the Christmas performance are going well. We now need everyone to put lots of effort into learning their lines so that we can focus on the acting. The play script is also save on the children’s chromebooks if they have forgotten to bring the paper copy home.

Finally, we are learning about the history of Farsley in history and will be going on a walk down to Sunny Bank Mill next week. It is a local walking visit and so does not need parental permission. We will send a letter home with the exact day once we have checked the weather forecast.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs Kroon and the Year 5 team.
