Fun and Learning in Year 5

Fun and Learning in Year 5

Good afternoon parents and carers,

Year 5 have enjoyed another busy week! We stood around a half white, half black ball and drew it from all the angles. The children learnt about waxing and waning moons and all the different names for the phases. Esk your child what kind of moon we have at the moment. Maybe they could even explain what a waxing or waning gibbous moon is!

In science 5K have learnt about the phases of the moon.

On Wednesday, we had special assemblies and lessons from Road Safety specialists.

The children learnt how to stay safe when in a vehicle or when being a pedestrian.

This will be helpful knowledge for the children to have when they begin their Bikability lessons after half term.

On Tuesday lunch time, Mr Beevers and I held auditions for the school play. We were very impressed by the effort and standard and will let children know their roles before half term. This will give children with the bigger parts time to learn their lines.

In history, we learnt about Ancient Greek architecture and started building Greek temples out of cardboard and art straws. Next week we will test whose is the strongest using weights.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs Kroon and Mr Beevers.
