Freeze!

Freeze!

Week 4 already! Lets just freeze the year here because this week has been great. Everyone has settled in and is working really hard. Well done all of Year 5.

Maths

We have completed our module on place value but one of the trickier aspects encountered was rounding numbers to 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 and 100,000. Below are a couple of videos that you can use to help your child if they are still unsure.

English

In English, we have been building up to writing our newspaper article detailing an event from Theseus’ adventures in The Odessey. We have looked at passive and active voice, as newspapers tend use the passive form, and direct and indirect speech. Next week we will plan and complete the final write.

Our Guided Reading book Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief has reached an exciting point in the story. 5K performed a freeze frame, which can be seen below.

Up coming

We hope to announce the title of the Christmas performance shortly. This is a chance for children to show their acting and singing skills to a wide audience. Everyone is welcome to audition for the speaking and singing parts they feel will fit their ability, or to push themselves further. Likewise, anyone who would like a behind the scenes role will be equally as valued.

Next monday, the Year 5 football team will be playing their first match at Meanwood C of E Primary School. Photos to follow.

Have a lovely (and hopefully sunny) weekend

Mr Beevers and Mrs Kroon
