Feeling like summer in Year 5

Good afternoon parents and carers,

It has been a lovely first week back after the Easter holidays and the children have been enjoying playing outside in the amazing weather.

In Geography we have started our new topic on Rocks, Rivers and the Water Cycle. We started by looking at different rocks. We then made sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock out of chocolate. Sedimentary was made by pushing layers of grated white and dark chocolate down into a cup. This was then squeezed and heated in our hands to make metamorphic. Finally we dipped into hot water and left to cool to create a hard shiny igneous rock. Here are some pictures of the children completing this experiment.
