5B had a very welcome visitor this week when Mr Kenvyn and baby Margot popped in to say hello. Whilst in class, she brushed up on her “adding expression” skills by reading a chapter this half term’s book, The Explorer, to the class.

World Book Day
The day, dedicated to reading, started with an assembly celebrating the videos and photos of children reading. We found it extremely difficult to pick a winner of the video competition from each class, due to the high standard, but eventually decided that Frank (5B) and Sophie (5KH) deserved the awards.

The classes spent the rest of the morning completing various activities. 5B went speed sharing their favourite book. In pairs, they had two minutes to convince their partner, or be convinced, that the chosen book was a page turner. After the share, they changed partners so that they could build up a list of books to read.

During the afternoon, both classes went to visit their reading buddies in Year 1. We spent an enjoyable half hour reading and chatting about books, plus enjoying the sun and getting to know our buddies a bit better. Photos are here for 5B and here for 5KH
Finally, everyone became an explorer hunting for treasure. Clues in the form of letters and parts of a photo were hidden around the school grounds. The children had to follow a map as quickly as possible and collect all the clues before they then ran to collect their prize.

Goodbye Mrs Alushaj
Very sadly, 5B and the rest of the school said goodbye to Mrs Alushaj today. She has been with the class since Year 2 and has been a massive part of their experience at Farsley Farfield.
In a very emotional Special Mention assembly, she gave a very heart felt speech and a Be The Best You Can Be award to the whole class. The class, in return, awarded her a Special Mention in recognition of all the great times they have had with her. They also managed to achieve 100% in their Extreme Reading score. (Unfortunately, no photos are available of Mr Beevers carrying out his promise of wearing a wig to celebrate!).

As I prepare to leave my role, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of your learning journey those four years.
To my wonderful pupils – thank you for your enthusiasm, hard work, and kindness. Watching you grow and learn has been the most rewarding part of my job, and I am so proud of each and every one of you. You have shown resilience, kindness, and determination in everything you do. You have challenged yourselves to be the best you can be, and I couldn’t be prouder of the young individuals you are becoming.
To the parents – I am truly overwhelmed by your kindness, love, and respect. Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers and thoughtful presents – they mean the world to me. Your generosity and warm wishes have touched my heart, and I feel so grateful to have been part of this wonderful community.
