Debating and other Year 5 business

Debating and other Year 5 business

Good evening parents and carers,

Well done to our Year 5 debating teams this week. After practise at school and becoming our finalists, seven children were selected to participate in a Leeds debating competition. They debated the motion: School uniform should be optional. Although they did not win, they all spoke eloquently and made strong points.

Next week we will be beginning making rainforest animals in DT. This will use sewing skills and it is helpful if children are able to thread a needle.

We will also be also be completing end of term tests in Reading and Maths in preparation for mid year reports and parents evenings in the last week of term.

In Maths we have finished the unit on decimals and percentages. We have not sent any paper homework home as many children are celebrating Eid. However, there are activities to complete on Mathletics and Spelling Shed if your child has the time to do so.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs Kroon and the year 5 team.
