A very busy week in Nursery!

A very busy week in Nursery!

Every week is busy in Nursery but this week we seemed to have done more than usual. On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day and have had lots of reading related activities going on through the week.

Story Bus

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have the Story Bus visit us again. The children listened to stories, sang songs, joined in with familiar rhymes and then selected books to read themselves.

Reading Buddies

We have two Reading Buddy classes and had visits on Tuesday and Friday. This is the second time they have been to visit and all the children were much more relaxed and focused. It was lovely to have the older children sharing stories with the younger ones. We are looking forward to their next visit.

World Book day

Thursday was World Book Day and many of the children came dressed up and brought their books to Nursery. We read stories about Elmer the elephant and the children had the opportunity to paint and colour pictures of the patterned elephant. We had quiet times when the children read books and shared them with their friends (some of the photos are a little dark as we had fairy lights on). The children made book marks to commemorate the day and then took a BookTrust Bookstart pack home containing one non-fiction and one fiction book. We do hope you enjoy sharing these books at home.

Number 2

We continue to learn about the number 2 and this week the children have been representing it on paper. They drew 2 horizontal lines, 2 vertical lines, 2 rectangles, 2 smiley faces and then the numeral 2.

Lots of other fun…

Yoga

Some of the children have been very interested in yoga this week and have been doing their own poses so to link with World Book Day we had a go at some Cosmic Yoga about ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. Here it is for you to practise at home…
