A busy week in Year 3
This week, we have been busy writing, performing and designing!
What am I?
We have been focusing on poems and Year 3 have enjoyed writing both list and Kenning poems! In English this week, we have been learning about the different features of a Kenning poem. We enjoyed reading through different poems and trying to guess the theme and then went on to research our own choice of animal. This included their habitat, their appearance and what they eat. We ended the week by writing our Kenning poems using a noun and a verb and performing them.
Here are some Kenning poems!

After Varjak Paw left the Contessa house, he ventured outside. Here are some List poems about what he could see from last week.

Science
Year 3 planned an investigation to test out different theories using different parts of the body. Some of these were, can people with shorter legs do more forward rolls in a quicker time? Do people with longer legs run faster? They set up their investigation in groups and used a timer and a trundle wheel to collect data. They had lots of fun, and we had a mixture of results. Once all the data was collected, they had fun visiting different stations and taking part in the different activities!

Music
We have been busy practising ‘The Dragon Song’, ready for our end-of-unit performance next week!

Ready, steady battle!
As part of our Romans topic, we have looked at different examples of Roman shields and the reasons behind the colours and designs. We have looked at different battle formations and discussed whether an oval or rectangular-shaped shield would be best and then went on to design our own. 3S have started making their shields as part of their D&T project, used a glue gun carefully to stick on their handles, and painted the base. 3B will be making theirs next week, and we can’t wait to see what they look like!
PE
Sports day is next week, and we have been busy practising different races and perfecting our use of sockets and pockets when running! Have a look at what we have been up to!

Well done to our special mentions this week – Bella, Olivia, Conrad, Anaya and Layla!
Have a lovely weekend.
