Year 6 23.10.26 – Happy Half Term

Parents’ Evening

It was so lovely to see so many of you over the last few days – some new, and some familiar faces. We hope you found the short session useful – if there are any queries or questions which you have had following the meeting, don’t hesitate to drop your child’s teacher an email:

kat.dobkin@farsleyfarfield.org.uk and james.nehaul@farsleyfarfield.org.uk

Here is a copy of the document we handed out about supporting fluency in mathematics. I am sorry to hear that one of the games is blocked on the filtering system (make 24) the rest of the websites should still work!

Life on Pandora

We have finished our incredible writing about life on the planet Pandora and the weird and wonderful animals you may find there. Both classes have done incredibly well at using their imagination as well as their excellent grammatical skills to write with an ‘expert tone’ and choose effective scientific language.

Have a look at some of our published work

Trip Reminder

Thank you to those parents who have sent back the trip forms for our upcoming visits to the Royal Armouries and the Gurdwara. As a reminder, we are suggesting a £1 donation to the Gurdwara and the cost of the Royal Armouries trip is £6.

We are required to remind you that this contribution is genuinely voluntary and parents are under no obligation to pay.  However, in order for the trip to be financially viable, we will require the vast majority of parents to make the voluntary contribution. If we do not receive enough contributions, then the trip may have to be cancelled.

Homework

Over the half term, we invite children to complete some research into natural disasters (our Geography topic this term). We have set an assignment in the classroom with some links and information to support. If your child chooses to complete this work, it should be returned by Friday of the first week back (6th November)

Spelling Shed – 3 games

Mathsbot 30 mins per week

Extreme Reading every day

Have a wonderful half term holiday.

The Year 6 Team.
