Year 6 09.10.26 – What a Harvest!

This week culminated in a fantastic Harvest Festival. Prior to that, we have spent the week exploring plate tectonics in more detail, studying a variety of different non-chronological reports, delving further into RE and grappling with multiplication and division.

Delving deep into Sikhism

Friday saw us exploring our RE topic in further detail, discovering the 5 Ks of Sikhism. Children researched each item, explaining the symbolism behind them and the reason the item is significant. This is great preparation for our trip to the Gurdwara after the half-term holidays, where we will be able to see the 5 Ks in use as well as find out more about the Sikh religion.

Exploring Pandora

English lessons have seen us immersed in the fascinating fictional world of Pandora. We have researched the environments and the different types of creatures living there in advance of our non-chronological report-writing coming up. We’re really excited to describe the lifestyle our own ‘creatures of Pandora’ in this writing. We’ve also looked at different styles of non-chronological reports, spotting the features and learning more about pygmy hippos and rays in the process.
