It has been a really positive start to the new school year. All classes appear settled and happy.
This week we began our first ever whole class instrument tuition with Year 3 all beginning to learn the ukulele. I wasn’t in the room, but it was apparently a lively, active session! These sessions are being led by a teacher from Artforms and we hope to progress to some ensemble performances later in the year.
On Thursday we had a governors’ Teaching and Learning Committee meeting, mainly focusing on a review of academic standards at the end of last year. It was a positive picture again this year with some great targeted improvements in Year 4’s recall of times tables and consistently good standards across the school. My understanding is that the governors have also shortlisted a strong field this week for the new Headteacher recruitment at the end of the month. It is good to know that there are lots of people who are keen to lead our lovely school. Once again, we must thank all the governors for the time and work for the school.
