Bog Babies!

We have had lots of fun hunting for, writing about and sculpting our own bog babies this week! Inspired by our class text, The Bog Baby, we went on a bog baby hunt and many children caught glimpses of the elusive creatures through their ‘magic’ magnifiers! We thought it important to record what we had seen and so have been writing reports about the bog babies including different sentence types, ambitious word choices and conjunctions to extend sentences. We also had fun creating clay sculptures of the creatures we saw adding natural materials for detail.

Spellings

We have been learning spellings where the letter o makes an ‘u’ sound e.g. other, mother, brother, some, done.

Maths

In maths this week we have done some revision lessons on shape and money to help jog our memories for our reasoning SATs paper. We have now completed both maths papers and as expected, children have tried their very best. Well done! We have also done some further work on statistics, looking at pictograms in 2s, 5s and 10s.

Maps!

Children have been pouring over maps and aerial photographs of the local area, identifying our school, their houses and other local landmarks. We learnt about how maps use symbols to represent human and physical features and enjoyed a game matching symbols to photographs.

DT Puppets

We have finally finished our glove puppets. The children really enjoyed making these and were pleased with their final puppets. We showed the nursery children who were also impressed!

Skipping Competition

Well done to our skipping team! We came 2nd overall and earned lots of team and individual awards. The best thing was that Mrs Wilson, Mrs Kenny and Ms Dixon said they were all brilliantly behaved and displayed super teamwork!
