Year 6 24.4.26

Welcome back to everyone! We were happy to see smiling faces on Monday as we started our very busy summer term. Please do keep an eye on this blog over the coming weeks as lots of information will be going out about residential, end of year arrangements, productions and more!

Maths

This week we have looked at reflection, translation and how to use a protractor to measure angles. Children have found this tricky! Here are two interactive websites to help

Measuring Angles: https://www.mathplayground.com/measuringangles.html

Angles Alien Attack: https://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/470/Angle-Alien-Attack

Can you help?

We have noticed a few children are a little wobbly with a few areas of maths which were taught long ago at the beginning of KS2 – if you have a little bit of time over the next few weeks could you work on the following with your child:

Telling the time – on an analogue clock and converting this to digital time

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zcrmqty

Working out change – can you calculate what several items cost and work out the change from £5 or £10. Even better – can you work out the price of a mystery object when told the change and the prices of the other things that have been bought?

Names of 2D shapes – Can you play this 2D shape reveal game for a few minutes together? (play levels 2 and 3) https://www.topmarks.co.uk/shapes/2d-shape-reveal

Who can identify the shape first? Does your child know the number of vertices of the shape? If there are any shapes you aren’t sure about this http://www.amathsdictionaryforkids.com is a brilliant resource for a reminder.

English

We have worked on our SPAG revision this week and the children have done brilliantly. They should all now be confident with modal verbs, subject object and active and passive voice. Grammar has been set on spelling shed for this week’s homework to allow the children to practice this!
