Phonics

We are continuing to revise all the digraphs, trigraphs and hard to read and spell words learnt so far. Our hard to read and spell words this week are: little, one, do. Can you encourage your child to say a sentence with them in? Can they remember some of the graphemes in those words?

Maths

This week, the children have consolidated their understanding of the composition of numbers by investigating the numbers within 7. Composing and de-composing numbers involves the children investigating part–part–whole relations, e.g. seeing that 7 can be made of 5 and 2. The children have deepened their understanding of a whole being made up of smaller parts through some fun games and practical experiences, such as investigating the number of ducks on a pond.

Spring Event

Wednesday 25th March is our Spring Event, and it will start around 9am. We will ask you to meet us at the yellow house on the playground while we do our register and last minute setting up. The weather forecast says ‘light rain’. We will be putting all the children into wellingtons as the ground is still very wet. Please come dressed appropriately as we will be completing the Spring activities no matter what the weather!

Any parents, grandparents who can’t attend, don’t worry, your child will complete the activities with a member of staff.

George Webster

We were so lucky to meet an author this week: George Webster. We have found out so much about George and about the books he has written.

Secret readers

We have a lovely week of secret readers. There is still plenty of time to volunteer, we are running secret reader sessions after the Easter holidays.

Eid-al-Fitr

We would like to wish all our Muslims families a wonderful Eid. The children have enjoyed making their friends and families Eid cards.

PE

In PE we have focussed on throwing and catching. The children did a fantastic job!
