Reception News – 5.12.15

Phonics

This week we have revised all of the phase 2 phonemes. The children have also tried hard to write words to match pictures. Please keep practising making words with your flashcards at home too.

Maths

This week, the children have built on their understanding of the composition of numbers by investigating the composition of 3, 4 and 5. Composing and de-composing numbers involves the children investigating part–part–whole relations, e.g. seeing that 3 can be composed of 1 and 2. They enjoyed watching an episode of Numberblocks where they were on a stampoline. The children had fun making their own ‘stampoline’ pictures.

Santa Writing

The children are busy writing their Christmas lists! They have done some really good sounding out, blending and formation of the letters.

The Christmas Nativity

We are looking forward to welcoming you all to our nativity next week. Our performances are on Monday 8th December at 2.30pm and Thursday 11th December at 9.30am in the infant building hall. The children have all brought home a copy of the stage layout, so you know where to sit.

Please can we remind you not to take pictures at the Christmas performances due to vulnerable children in our school. We will do our best to get pictures of every child and will share these with you on the blog and/or eyLog. Thank you for your support with this. It is very much appreciated.
