Supertato!

We started the week reading and reviewing Supertato by Sue Hendra. The videos below show children interviewing each other about the book.

We have collected vocabulary to describe Supertato and wrote some brilliant character descriptions. We have created our own superveggie or veggie villain to describe next week!

Spelling

This week we have been learning alternative ways of making the or sound. There are lots of these!

We have also focussed on the homophones, shore, sure, paw, poor, pour, saw, sore

DT

In DT we have designed our own moving picture using one of three mechanisms: a slider, lever and pivot or a wheel. Next week we will make these and show them to reception.

Messy Maps

Take a look at our messy maps! We drew, built and stuck to create maps of Farsley. Can you find a route from school to the library?

Mental Calculation

In maths we have been exploring how number facts can help us with mental calculation. Bonds to 10 are particularly important for lots of mental strategies. Take a look at this song for a fun way to practise.

Road Safety

This week, we were visited by the Leeds Road Safety Team. We had a whole school assembly on Wednesday, where we learned all about how to stay safe both in a car as a passenger and how to be safe as a pedestrian.

Year 2 had an additional workshop and practical session where they crossed the road outside school.
