Welcome to Year 4!

Welcome to Year 4!

The children in Year 4 have had a fantastic first week and have really impressed their new teachers with their enthusiasm and positive attitudes.

Here are some of our highlights from the week:

Team building

On Tuesday, both classes completed a series of fun team-building activities on the field. Children had to work together in small groups to build towers, move across the field on wooden planks and lower a wooden pole to the ground without dropping it. It was great to hear the children communicating well and supporting each other during these tasks.

Music

On Wednesday, we joined together as a whole year group for some music. We practised making different rhythms with our hands and the instruments and learnt a song about fruits in Spanish, which we even sang in a round.

Maths

Our maths topic for the next few weeks is all about place value. The children are developing their understanding of place value in numbers up to 1000, using place value counters and base 10 equipment to support them.

Homework

The children have brought home a spelling sheet to complete and maths homework on the 2 x table. Please can homework books be returned by Wednesday.

Extreme Reading

Next week, we expect all children to bring their signed reading record to school each day. Children should read at home five times each week. We are grateful for your support with this.

Swimming

A reminder that swimming will start on Wednesday 10th September. Please do speak to a member of staff if you have any questions or concerns about swimming.

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend, and we look forward to seeing you back at school on Monday.
