What a great week we have had with our new Year 6 classes. Everyone has been on their best behaviour and demonstrating already how responsible they are as they start their final year of primary school.
English
We have begun reading our class text for this half term: Kensuke’s Kingdom. This week the children were inference detectives and looked carefully at images to make some excellent predictions about the themes and events of the story. We then used watercolour paints to create our own images in response to our discussion. We will post our art work on the blog next week.
Maths
We have made a good start to our maths work and have been looking at place value in numbers up to 10,000,000. The children have worked hard with these large numbers and have completed some good work. We have noticed that some of the times tables need working on so would like children to continue using TT Rockstars to support this. Times tables underpin lots of the learning in upper KS2 and if the children find this area tricky lots of other concepts become hard.

- PE is on a Tuesday – please come in your PE kit and trainers
- Indoor shoes needed. Children need to change into indoor shoes after playtime. Please ensure your child has a pair of indoor shoes within the next two weeks
- Homework is set on a Friday and is checked the following Friday. Details of homework will be on the blog each week
