Library Visit

On Monday we visited the library as part of our local geography. We found the infants and junior buildings on a map and then looked for the library. We planned our route and used the map to check what we would see on our journey.

At the library, Kate read some stories about maps. We loved The Detective Dog which was about a class of children walking to the library! We also enjoyed reading Martha Maps it Out. The little girl in this story zooms in from the universe all the way to her bedroom in maps. Kate then showed us some old maps of Farsley.

There are lots of exciting events happening at the library. Click on this link for more info. Remember, it is free to join the library so please make use of this fantastic resource!

English

In English this week we wrote our own versions of the little red hen story with different characters and events but using a similar structure. We were really impressed with the children’s ideas. They were very proud of their finished stories!

Spelling

In spelling this week we have looked at the alternative spellings for ou/ow and oi/oy including the homophones flower/flour. Please support your child by practising these at home.

Maths

We have started our new unit on Addition and Subtraction this week. The children have been learning their number bonds to 10. We then looked at making fact families. Look at the bbc bitesize link to find out more.
