Year 6 27.9.24

English

Year 6 became roving reporters this week and wrote and performed scripts linked to our class text – Kensuke’s Kingdom. They did a great job imagining the television interviews which might have taken place due to the main character’s disappearance in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The children really had to understand the characters we have met so far and use this to create realistic dialogue.

Here are some examples.

We took part in another amazing live lesson this week – this time linked to the 500 words competition which has finally launched! We encourage all the children to enter with your permission. Link to do so is here Please do let us know if you enter the competition and we would love to read some of your stories!

Maths

This week we have been delving into multiples and factors! Lots of the children are still a little wobbly on their times tables and so we encourage you to support your children to make sure they are learning those which they don’t know as well. TT rock stars is great for this – little and often will be beneficial by May when the SATS come around.

For more information about factors and multiples check here

Science

How can we classify animals? That was the aim of our learning in our lessons this week as we began to use our knowledge to create classification keys. It’s much trickier than you might think!

Have a look and try the classifying quiz

Homework

  • Spelling She cial
  • Mathletics x 1
  • Reading daily
  • TT Rockstars 10 min per day
