First week of Y6

We have had a fabulous start the the academic year and all of the children have really impressed us with their hard work and attitude towards their learning. We have been working on some independent tasks this week before beginning our full units of work next week.

Indoor Shoes

Please could children have a pair of indoor shoes by the end of next week. As the weather gets worse this becomes more of a problem and children will be asked to come into class wearing their socks if they do not have a pair of indoor shoes.

We have also sent home a newsletter with the children today. Please see the electronic link here.

English

This week we have been exploring the works of poet Robert MacFarlane, author of The Lost Spells. We have focused on his poem Red Fox and used his structure and language to support our writing. We will be finalising our poems next week and will share some of the work with you then.

Art

This week we have been working on some self-portraits using only sketching pencil so that they are in black and white. The children were given half of their face and had to complete the other half using their sketching skills. Here are some of the final pieces.
