Phonics

This week we have learnt the tricky word come.

We have also learnt the phoneme er like in river and we revised the phonemes

We have now learnt all the Phase 2 and Phase 3 phonemes. Does your child know them all? Please keep practising them at home.

Phonics Play is a great website and is a fun way to practise the phonemes and most of the games are free! The children enjoy playing the games – Picnic on Pluto is a favourite. Please click here to play at home.

Maths

We have been doing lots of counting this week. The children enjoyed counting to 100! They have engaged with activities that draw attention to the purpose of counting – to find out ‘how many’ objects there are. We also revisited the concept of cardinality – the idea that the last number in the count tells us how many things there are altogether.

The children have had fun doing surveys. They have asked their friends what their favourite colour is, what fruit do they like etc…

Understanding the World

This week RP class have enjoyed looking at Town Street in Farsley. We observed what we could see and hear. The children noticed lots of different shops and we discussed the purpose of a post office, estate agents and opticians.

The children also enjoyed drawing and creating their own maps afterwards.

RGK have been busy drawing a map of Farsley. RP will do this next week.

Everything Else…

Have a super weekend.
