It has been a busy week full of performances, singing and parties among lessons, too!
Maths
This week, the children have continued with multiplication and division, focusing on multiplying by 3. After the holidays, we will divide by three and move onto the four times tables. Over the holidays, it would benefit the children to practise their number recall on TT Rockstars.
Making a list, checking it twice
We have enjoyed writing list poems linked to winter in English this week. Children mind-mapped ideas related to Santa using similes to compare. They then used similes and a range of adjectives to write list poems about winter, Christmas, and Santa! Here are a few for you to enjoy.
Would you rather visit the Yorkshire or the Alps?
This week, we have come to the end of our Geography unit comparing Yorkshire and the Alps. Children used a Venn diagram to compare and then used this to answer the overall question – where they would rather visit. It was fair to say some were happy to stay in Yorkshire to go hiking across the Yorkshire Dales, the three peaks, and take a closer look at Yorkshire’s longest river, River Ouse, whilst others wanted to visit the Alps, climb Mont Blanc, and take photos of the landscape! Some were diplomatic and said they would see both but at different times of the year.
French
We have ended our ‘Saison’s’ unit, and children have enjoyed learning about different seasons and using sentence stems to support their conversations. Some children enjoyed using the names of our seasons in our calendars this year!
Sherwood hoodies
Y3 enjoyed being part of the Year 5 performance of Robin Hood, and they did so well. For all the adults who did manage to attend, we hope you enjoyed all the comical moments and the beautiful singing. Year 3 enjoyed practising songs from the Sherwood hoodies, and we have attached the play below for you all to enjoy.
Festivities
This week has been full of festivities, and Year 3 have enjoyed making calendars, writing the seasons in English and French, and creating Christmas and holiday cards for friends and family.
Guess who?
On Wednesday, a surprise visitor came with a sack of presents for the children. They were full of questions, and for those children who wrote list poems about Santa, it brought them to life!
Party!
Thursday afternoon, Year 3 enjoyed an end-of-term party full of singing, dancing, fun, and games! The children were excited to change into fabulous party clothes after lunch and spend the afternoon with their friends. Year 3 spent the first part of the afternoon together in the hall, playing games and dancing! We were very impressed with their dancing!
We then had fun playing different games in our classes and ended the day with a singsong!
All children have changed books for the holidays – please remind children to read them throughout the holidays.

Year 3 has had a brilliant first full term, and we are very proud of the effort that they have put in this term. It has been a pleasure teaching them, and we look forward to seeing them after their well-deserved break in the new year! For everyone celebrating Christmas, we wish you a wonderful Christmas full of joy.
